IN ACCORDANCE WITH ARTICLE 6252-17, V.A.T.C.S., AS AMENDED BY CHAPTER
227, ACTS OF THE 61ST LEGISLATURE, REGULAR SESSION, 1969, THE PARKS AND
RECREATION BOARD AGENDA WAS PREPARED AND POSTED ON THIS THE 23RD DAY OF
AUGUST, 1983.

The City of Grapevine Parks and Recreation Board convened in regular
meeting at 7:30 p.m., on this the 25th day of August, 1983, with the
following members present to -wit:
Mike McKinney
Bobby Nery
Elmer Ball
Jerry Brown
Julian Dyke
John Levitt
Janice Kirkland
Don Callenius
Kevin. Conklin of the City Staff was present.
The meeting was called to order by Mike McKinney.
The invocation was given by John Levitt.
The Minutes of July 28, 1983 were approved unanimously.
The following youth sport boards and/or their members were present:
Pee Wee Football: Roger Hendrick, Chuck Peddycourt, Mazy Peddycourt,
Linda Hawkins
Soccer: Bill Lakey, A.C. Urbanosky, George Hurst
Baseball: Bonnie Ballard, Elbridge Christison, Susie Lineweaver
Five Pitch: Tam Powers
Under Discussion Items, each Board made a report on its past season, and
future plans.
Football: had 6 teams in 1982; expect 4-6 teams for 1983; would like to
use Mustang Stadium for playoffs if possible; regulation play starts
September 24 and extends through December 10 (playoffs)
Soccer: had 50 teams for spring of 1983; project 60 teams for fall
season; season begins September 24 and ends November 19
Baseball: had 15 teams for 1983 season; 1984 season begins May 1 and
ends by July 4; serves youth ages 7-16
Five Pitch Baseball: had 10 teams in 1983; expect possibly 11-12 teams
for 1984; ratio of participants is 60% boys to 40% girls
Also under Discussion Items, Kevin mentioned that the final vote of the
parks and recreation bond proposition was 274 for and 276 against. Don
Callenius recommended that the Board meet with the Council in a band
election workshop in the near future. Elmer Ball seconded. The motion
passed unanimously.
The date of the next meeting will be Thursday, September 29, 1983.
There being no further business, a motion to adjourn was made by Janice
Kirkland, and seconded by Bobby Nery. All present voted aye. The
meeting was adjourned.
