RECREATION BOARD AGENDA WAS PREPARED AND POSTED ON THIS THE 20TH DAY OF
JANUARY, 1984.

The City of Grapevine Parks and Recreation Board convened
in regular meeting at 7:30 p.m., on the 26th day of
January, 1984, with the following members present to -wit:
Mike McKinney
John Levitt
Bobby Nery
Scott Brown
Bill Martin
Julian Dyke
Don Callenius
Kevin Conklin of the City Staff was present.
The meeting was called to order by Mike McKinney.
The invocation was given by Kevin Conklin.
The Minutes of December 8, 1983 were approved unanimously.
The following youth sports representatives were present:
Soccer: Martin Dunbar, George Hurst
Football: Deborah Wilson, Gwen Valentine, Vangie Jenson,
Roger Hendrick, Steve Grimm, Bonnie Bullard
Baseball -Five Pitch: Bonnie Ballard, Elbridge Christison,
Steve Lineweaver, Paul Moore
Under Discussion Items, each board made a report on its past
season, and future plans.
Soccer: for the fall of 1983, had 49 teams and 750 players;
projects for the spring of 1984, 55 to 60 teams, and
800 to 850 players; the spring season would begin
March 3 and end May 5; there will be a soccer youth
camp at Oak Grove Park the week of June 18th; George
Hurst discussed the possibility of presenting a
special recognition certificate to team members, and
the Board voted to do so
Football: for the 1983 season, had 5 teams and 130 partici-
pants; anticipates the same number for 1984; the
1984 season begins in September and ends in December
Baseball: for the 1984 season, will include five pitch base-
ball as part of the association; baseball had 15
teams in 1983, and five pitch had 12 teams; season
will begin April 9 and end June 28
Under Miscellaneous Reports, Kevin reported the possibility
of a parks and recreation bond election on April 7th, depend-
ing upon the Council's desire; three possible issues would be
voted on: a natatorium, an indoor recreation center; and land
purchases; the Board will meet Monday, February 20 to discuss
the issue.
Also, it was mentioned that Place 4 was vacant on the Board,
and that Places 6, 7, 8, and 9 terms expire May 1, 1984.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
