Board to discuss the possibility of Grapevine becoming a National Youth Sports Coaches Association Chapter VI. ACTION ITEMS VII. ADJOURNMENT IN ACCORDANCE WITH ARTICLE 6252-17, V.A.T.C.S., AS AMENDED BY CHAPTER 227, ACTS OF THE 61ST LEGISLATURE, REGULAR SESSION, 1969, THE PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD AGENDA WAS PREPARED AND POSTED ON THIS THE 18TH. DAY OF MARCH, 1987. a DIRECTOR OF PARKS AND RECREATION CITY OF GRAPEVINE >> COUNTY OF TARRANT >> STATE OF TEXAS >> The City of Grapevine Parks and Recreation Board convened in regular meeting at 7:30 p.m. on this the 26th. day of March, 1987, with the following members present to -wit: Julian Dyke Alex McKee Penny Bigbie Sue Burgtorf Shane Wilbanks Members Absent were: City Staff: Margaret Telford Mike Conroy Bill Martin Bobby Nery Craig Martin Sherry Blackshear Bobby Wise Kevin Conklin John MacDonald The meeting was called to order by Sue Burgtorf. The invocation was given by Kevin Conklin. Alex McKee motioned and Bobby Wise seconded to approve minutes of January 15, 1987. The Minutes were approved. Under Citizens Requests/Miscellaneous Reports, Sherry Blackshear reported that the Beautification Committee needed volunteers and was progressing with planned projects. Under Discussion Items: (1) Kevin reported that Open Space Funding derived from Winding Creek would be used to construct two additional tennis courts, a basketball court, volleyball court, and to install playground equipment and landscaping at Dove Park. These additions and improvements will take place to the northeast of the water tower, and to the north of the existing tennis courts. (2) John MacDonald presented an overview of the Certification Program of the National Youth Sport Coaches Associations. Items discussed included the certification of youth sport coaches in Grapevine. The coaches would be required to view films regarding aspects of their respective sports. The Board will discuss this concept with youth sport representatives in May. The next meeting was scheduled for May 28, 1987. There being no further business, a motion to adjourn was made by Bobby Nery and seconded by Sherry Blackshear. All present voted aye.
