RECREATION BOARD MEETING AGENDA WAS PREPARED AND POSTED ON THIS THE 15TH
DAY OF AUGUST, 1988.

The City of Grapevine Parks and Recreation Board convened in regular
meeting at 7:30 p.m. on this 18th day of August 1988 at the Senior Citizens
Center with the following members present to wit:
Bill Martin
Alex McKee
Bobby Wise
Jackie Disselkoen
Julian Dyke
Margaret Telford
Dick Rawlins
Also present were the following City staff to wit:
John Rainwater - Director of Parks & Recreation
Mark Mailes - Assistant Director of Parks & Recreation
John MacDonald - Superintendent of Recreation
Representatives of the Youth Sports Associations were also present:
Football - Russell Kidd
Sue Morgan
Wayne Highnote
Soccer - - Nell Daniels
Baseball - Alex McKee
Russell Kidd
The meeting was called to order and the invocation given by Bill Martin.
Minutes from July were approved unanimously.
Mark Mailes stated that the discussion of the proposed Youth Commission has
been tabled by Council.
The Youth Sports Boards were introduced. The following reports were made:
1. SOCCER - 57 teams projected for Fall season with 700 children
expected between the ages of 4 and 19 years. Games will begin on
September 17 and run until Thanksgiving. Sign ups would be held
August 27, 30, September 8 and 10. Practices begin September 12.
Information number/ recording was set up at the soccer concession
stand.
2. FOOTBALL - 5 teams are expected this fall. 140 boys and 60 girls
for cheerleading. Draft to be held August 29 and 30, with season to
begin September 10.
3. BASEBALL - A successful season was had this year. A new board has
been elected with John Ward as new President. Discussion was made on
re -introducing girls softball next season.
A brief discussion was had on the completion of the skateboard ramp at Dove
Park.
John MacDonald gave a brief overview of coaching clinics to be held this
fall.
It was suggested that the Park Board meeting for September be cancelled and
the board should meet again in October.
There being no further business, it was voted uanimously to adjourn.
