The City of Grapevine Parks and Recreation Board convened in regular
meeting at 7:04 p.m. on this the 16th. day of March, 1989, with the
following members present to -wit:
Bill Martin
Julian Dyke
Margaret Telford
City Staff present:
Mark Mailes
Doug Kratz
Alex McKee
Dick Rawlins
Mark Watson
Norma Mosley
The meeting was called to order by Bill Martin
The invocation was given by Mark Mailes
The minutes of February 16th, 1989 were approved. Motion to accept by
Bill Martin, seconded by Julian Dyke.
UNDER CITIZENS REQUESTS AND/OR MISCELLANEOUS REPORTS,
Doug Kratz gave an update on the Spring Recreation programs. He passed out
information on softball, swim programs, recreation programs, and the Easter
Egg Hunt.
UNDER DISCUSSION ITEMS,
Norma Mosely, Senior Citizen Director, presented an overview of the
programs at the Center. The primary discussion centered on the proposed
Senior Garden/Park on the property North of the Center. Norma reported
that she had 10 seniors that had formed a "Garden Club" and would be
updating the board on their progress and on recommendations on the overall
development of a Senior Park.
Bill Martin reported on his attendance at The Community Board Branch
session at the Texas Recreation and Parks Society State Conference in
Arlington. He reported that some very pertinent information was provided
and discussed. Bill will be deciphering his notes and the department will
mail out this information.
Bill also made a suggestion that the Board and Lake Committee take up a
collection to plant a tree in honor John Rainwater. Staff will be
investigating costs and will get back to the board.
There being no further business, a motion to adjourn was made by Margaret
Telford and seconded by Julian Dyke. All present voted aye. The meeting
was adjourned.
