Doug Kratz introduced the representative for each group. Rubin Amezaga reported that the DFW Soccer Association had had sixty teams composed of 920 members participate in the spring soccer season. The only major problem was the weather and flooding. In the fall, the association is projecting seventy teams with over one thousand participants. The season will begin on September 22 and end November 17, 1990. Some of the games will be played on the newly lighted fields at the Oak Grove Soccer Complex. Philip Donaldson, representing the Grapevine Peewee Baseball Association, stated that in the spring, 1990 season, forty-nine teams with 675 members participated in peewee baseball. The major problem was the lack of fields, especially practice fields. Mr. Donaldson also stated the need for a larger concession stand. The projected membership for next season was fifty-five to sixty teams with 750 players. Louise Smith, representing the Woman's Tennis Association, stated that the spring league contained over forty players and the fall league will probably be even larger. The Tennis Association expressed the need for better lighting at the Dove Courts. The Grapevine Peewee Football Association was represented by Russell Kidd. In the fall of 1989, the Association fielded eight teams, two of which went to the playoffs. The Association has organized a new league with neighboring cities to limit the distance traveled by the teams. The Association is enlarging to include flag football for five and six year olds and a team for twelve year olds who do not participate in middle school football. The meeting ended with the Park Board viewing the proposed design for the new bathhouse.
