The City of Grapevine Parks and Recreation Board met Thursday, June
20, 1991 at 7:00 p.m. at the Grapevine Senior Citizen's Center, 421
North Church Street, Grapevine, Texas with the following members
present, to -wit:
Robert Brunson
Jackie Disselkoen
Julian Dyke
Denise Gasmire
Don Hanes
Bill Martin
David O'Briant
Margaret Telford
Absent:
Alex McKee Shane Wilbanks
Jack Webre (Absent due to a special
City Council Meeting)
The following City Staff were present:
Mark Mailes
The meeting was called to order by Bill Martin. Bill Martin gave
the invocation. Julian Dyke moved that the minutes of the May 16,
1991 meeting be approved and David O'Briant seconded. The minutes
were approved.
The oath of office was administered to new Park Board member Don
Hanes and to returning Park Board members Robert Brunson, Jackie
Disselkoen, David O'Briant, and Margaret Telford. Outgoing Park
Board member Ray Payne was given a plaque of appreciation for his
service.
Officers for the 1991-1992 Board were elected. Bill Martin will
serve as Chairperson, Jackie Disselkoen as Vice -Chairperson, and
Margaret Telford as Secretary.
Under miscellaneous business and citizen's requests, Mark Mailes
reported on additional improvements at the Senior Citizen's Center
which included a paved walkway and benches that were provided by
the Recycling Center. Hours for the Recycling Center have been
reduced due to curbside pickup. Sixty-four percent (64%) of the
citizens participate in the curbside recycling.
P.W. McCullum of the Convention and Visitors Bureau of the City of
Grapevine made a presentation on the Liberty Plaza project. This
project would include a replica of the Wallis Hotel to be
constructed on Main Street to house the Convention and Visitors
Bureau and to establish a park/plaza to incorporate the hotel and
Torian Cabin. Jackie Disselkoen moved that the Park Board support
the project, and support the Park Department in applying for a
grant. Margaret Telford seconded. The motion was approved.
Margaret Telford moved that the meeting be adjourned. Jackie
Disselkoen seconded. The -meeting was adjourned.
