We authorize Sharon Grippe to read this letter on our behalf at the City
Council Meeting on November 21, 2023.
My name is Frank Colby we live at 538 Dove Creek Circle which is within
200 feet of proposed Grapevine Springs zoning change. 1 want to thank
the City Council for allowing my good friend and neighbor to read this
letter since I am not able to be here today.
We have lived at this address for over 35 years. The company I worked
for then moved us from Alabama to my office in Irving, TX. We choose
to live in Grapevine due to the school system and uniqueness of the
City of Grapevine. It was a good decision; our three children all
graduated from Grapevine High School and then went on to college to
get advanced degrees.
We have loved Grapevine. It is a great place to raise a family. One of
the things that we love about grapevine is that it is not just another
suburb of Dallas or Ft Worth. The city has a rich history and has
protected that history through preserving Main Street, Nash Farm and
historic neighborhoods. We also love the walking and bike trails
around Lake Grapevine, the REC Center and city parks. This City Council
and City Councils before you have worked hard to protect the
uniqueness of Grapevine. We live close to these areas and have
enjoyed them with our children and grandchildren. Grapevine is now
part of our family history and heritage.

There have been many changes to the city in the 35 plus years we have
lived in this community. Thank you enabling the city to grow while
protecting the city history and heritage at the same time. I am not
opposed to growth. But the growth needs to be well managed. The
current zoning allows for 20 foot high office buildings with reasonable
space between the buildings. Please retain the current zoning. The
proposed zoning change would result in zero lot lines and 35 foot high
homes. I am strongly opposed to destroying green space to build
towering buildings crammed together. This will cause irreparable
damage to the homes and businesses adjacent to Grapevine Springs.
Please protect the history and heritage of our neighborhood and city by
voting no to the proposed zoning change.
Thank You
