IN ACCORDANCE WITH ARTICLE 6252-17 , V.A. T. C. S. , AS AMENDED BY

POSTED ON THIS THE 18TH DAY OF JUNE, 1976.
PARKS AND RECREATION DIRECTOR

The Parks & Recreation Board met Friday morning at 8: 00 A.M. with
Donny Kaker
Gennie McAferty
Gail Gershick
William Shafer
Gerald Thompson
Bob Hart
present, absent were Thelma Conine & Bill Yancey. The board
questioned the proposal by Southwestern Golf Association and
their ability to provide an economical course. Hidden costs
in both the construction and operation phases were of concern
to Board Members . It was felt that if the City is financially
able to construct and operate the course then it would be in
the best of interests of the City to do so. Gennie McAferty
made the motion to recommend to the City Council that the
Council reject the proposal by SWG and the City sell certificates
of obligation to acquire the funds necessary for construction
provided that this means of financing is in the best interests of
the city. Gerald Thompson seconded the motion. The motion
carried unanimously. The meeting was then adjourned.

Donald R. Kaker, Chairman
Parks & Recreation Committee
City of Grapevine
June 24, 1976
Dear Donnie:
Please accept my formal resignation from the Grapevine
Parks & Recreation Board. I have served as a member for
one year and during that period, I cannot recall an instance
where the function of the board has made a substantial
contribution to the community. This is not to say that the
Parks & Recreation Department has not been successful. I
think that over the past three years, the Parks Department
has been outstanding, and I think that everyone in the
community is well aware of the progress in our park &
recreation facilities; but I do not think that the function
of the board has enhanced it's growth whatsoever. It is
for this reason that I must resign.
Thank you very much and I have enjoyed being around all
of the board members. If I can ever be of any assistance
outside of a member capacity, please call on me at any time.
Thank you!
Kindest personal regards,
/S41:1
