HomeMy WebLinkAbout1977-03-03 STATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF TARRANT CITY OF GRAPEVINE 4110 The City of Grapevine Parks and Recreation Board convened in Special meeting at 7: 30 P.M. , on this the 3rd day of March, 1977, with the following members present, to-wit: Ron Armstrong William Shafer Gennie McAferty Jim Swinney Thelma Conine Bob Hart, Director/Parks and Recreation Ed Morley, Recreation Superintendent Ron Armstrong called the meeting to order. The invocation was given by Gennie McAferty. It was noted that this was a rescheduled February meeting and that we would still have a March meeting. A motion was made and seconded that we accept the minutes from the previous meeting. Motioned passed. Bob Hart announced that our new rocket ship playground equipment had arrived. It will soon be assembled and ready for play. There was a discussion of the Oak Grove Park facilities and progress of the applied for grant. Mr. Hart hopes to have some information on that in the next 60 days. Plans for the official dedication of "The Elwood Cluck Memorial Park" were postponed because Mrs. Cluck is in the hospital. Mr Hart noted he had sent flowers to her on behalf of the Parks Board and Parks Dept. The dedication will probably take place in April. A proposed park at the new Timberline Elem. School was discussed. A motion was made by Thelma Conine to set up a committee to work 411.0 with Bob Hart and Grapevine Independent School District and the City Council and draw up a workable plan for this park. The motion was passed. Committee members are: Jim Swinney William Shafer Gennie McAferty mentioned that swings cannot be used according to the present school policy and we must acquire the schools require- ments before plans proceed "in order not to have to backtrack" on our planning. The Little League Agreement was discussed and will remain the same as last year except for item 2, the city will receive a flat $100.00 of the gross receipts. A motion was made and a unamious vote accepted the Little League Agreement. Bob Hart informed the Parks Board of pending legislation (HB 16, ,r 54, 468, 667, 331) in the state house of which the Texas Recreation and Parks Society is recommending action. Formulation of a park in the Lucas Addition was given attention and possible sites were discussed. A motion was made by Gennie McAferty that we proceed with looking and purchase land for this purpose with the approval of the city council. William Shafer seconded the motion, it carried unamiously. Plans were viewed on the new proposed senior citizens building. There being no further business William Shafer make a motion to adjour the meeting.
