1969, THE PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD AGENDA WAS PREPARED AND
POSTED ON THIS THE 14TH DAY OF FEBRUARY, 1978.

CITY OF GRAPEVINE
The City of Grapevine Parks and Recreation Board convened in
regular meeting at 7: 30 P.M. , on this the 23rd day of February,
1978, with the following members present to-wit:
Ron Armstrong
Melvin McGrue
Fred Handy
Thelma Conine
Jim Swinney
Bob Hart, Director/Parks and Recreation Dept.
The meeting was called to order by Ron Armstrong.
The invocation was given by Fred Handy
There were no requests by citizens or miscellaneous reports.
r Ron Armstrong read the minutes and entertained a motion for
approval. Fred Handy so moved, Melvin McGrue seconded the
motion, and all present voted aye.
Bob Hart reported that 75% of the people in the Silver Lake
area was in favor of the proposed park. However, because it
was so near the boat ramp we should hold up for a while to see
if anything else might develop. Melvin McGrue made a motion
to table, Thelma Conine seconded, McGrue, Conine, Armstrong,
and Swinney voted aye. Fred Handy abstained noting that we
should go ahead and develop the park.
Brenda Mitchell and Larry Mitchell were present to represent
the Little League. Bob drew up a field assignment diagram.
The Board and Little League approved.
The concession agreement was discussed. The Board recommended
that the $2. 50 per game night be continued as last year, and
the Little League have right to 100% of funds from tournaments.
Softball tournaments were set for May 12, 13, 14; June 9, 10, 11;
June 23, 24 25.
The city will prepare all fields except the bases which the
Little League will do.
Little League representatives were pleased with the proposals
and said their season would start May 22. The city will schedule
all games, and try to help with umpires .
Bob Hart reported on the inclusion of Big Bear Creek in the
National Recreation study. A letter of recommendation to
preserve the creek was prepared to present to the Council.
Fred Handy made a motion to adopt the letter, Thelma Conine
seconded the motion, all voted aye.
There being no further business Fred Handy made a motion to
adjourn the meeting. The motion was seconded by Thelma Conine,
and all present voted aye. The meeting was adjourned.
