The departmental report was made. It was discussed that if
there should be sufficient funds in the current budget, the

swimming pool will be kept open until September 4th. The soccer
fields are currently undergoing major gradework by the City.
For Old Business, the Athletic Facilities Policy was discussed
briefly. The policy should be very effective in several areas.
These include tournaments, establishment of seasons, facilities
usage, etc. The mandatory dedication issue was discussed. Due
to the scope and extensiveness of this issue, a great deal of
preparation will be required to present it properly to the Board.
It was decided to table this issue, until the preparation and
study can be completed.
For New Business, the Fall Festival was discussed. The
department will have a major role in the Festival again this
year. Scheduled for Saturday, September 30th, it is sponsored
by the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce and will be held at Dove
Park.
A cost-sharing proposal dealing with athletic fields at Oak
Grove Park was discussed briefly. If possible, a softball
complex and lighted soccer fields would be established in
conjunction with the Corps of Engineers.
There being no further business, Buddy Hall made a motion to
adjourn the meeting. The motion was seconded by Janie McCoy,
and all present voted aye. The meeting was adjourned.
