MINUTES
The Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau Board of Directors met on Tuesday, December
14, 1999 at the Hilton DFW Lakes, 2600 Highway 26E, Grapevine, Texas with the following
persons in attendance:

CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Bigbie called the meeting to order and welcomed the council, board, staff and
guests.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A motion to approve the minutes from the November 18th, 1999 Board Meeting was made by
Kathee Livengood and seconded by Gary Blagg. Motion carried.
SALES AND MARKETING REPORT
George Kakos gave a wrap-up report on the year with highlights including 723 events at the
Convention Center, $487,000 in revenue and over 300 days that the Center was in use. The
communications division had $ 1,362,000 in PR media value. The Visitor Information Center
assisted 179,000 people with the help of volunteers who donated 3,500 volunteer hours. The
Convention Services assisted conventions with an economic impact of over $ 14,500,000.
Over 650,000 pieces of literature were distributed. The convention sales team produced 230
qualified group leads with an economic impact of over $ 12,000,000 and converted leads with
an economic impact of over $ 4,000,000. The web site had 322,000 hits an increase over the
140,000 of the previous year. Plans are in the works to expand and enhance the web site.

ADJOURNMENT
Mr. Bigbie thanked the mayor, council, board and staff for combining a forward looking
vision with practical common sense. There being no further business to bring before the
Board, Bill Brink made a motion to adjourn seconded by Kathee Livengood. Motion carried.
