ADJOURNMENT C (re State of Texas County of Tarrant City of Grapevine MINUTES The Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau Board of Directors met on Tuesday, December 13, 2005 at the Grand Hyatt DFW, Terminal D, DFW Airport, Texas with the following persons in attendance: Don Bigbie Chairman Ev Barnes Board Member Bill Brink Board Member Philip Cloud Board Member John Imaizumi Board Member Kathee Livengood Board Member Paul Slechta Board Member Steve Stinson Board Member Mark Wasiak Board Member Darlene Freed Council Liaison Bruno Rumbelow City Manager Paul W. McCallum Executive Director George Kakos Assistant Executive Director CALL TO ORDER Chairman Bigbie called the meeting to order and welcomed Mayor, Council Member, spouses and staff along with the CVB Board Members. APPROVAL OF MINUTES A motion to approve the minutes from the November 17th meeting was made by Kathee Livengood and seconded by John Imaizumi. Motion carried. SALES AND MARKETING REPORT A written Sales and Marketing Report for the fiscal year 2004/2005 was distributed to board members. NEW BUSINESS Staff Awards Mr. McCallum shared comments on the growth of the organization and introduced new staff members: Susan Mathis, Festivals and Events Division, Nicole Alley, Communications Division, Neil Wright, Train Division, and Willie Rosa, Convention Center Division. Director Awards went to: Linda Fournier for work on Polar Express, Thomas the Tank and other train groups. Nicole Alley for expanding media coverage and the promotion of Grapevine. Sallie Andrews for her leadership of the Grapevine Heritage Foundation and the preservation program. Rookie of the Year Award went to Susan Mathis with the Festivals Division. Joey Wilkins "Can Do" Award went to lona Robbins with the Train Division. Employee of the Year Award went to Heather Kisabeth with the Tourism Division. Mr. McCallum commented that this has been a year of transition. The baby boomers are passing the mantle to the millennials (21 to 25-year olds) now the greatest generation for consumerism. They like exciting things with subtle changes. We plan to grow the weekend / holiday / summer business. We need additional hotel properties and one additional large property. He thanked the mayor and council for their leadership and commented that the future lies in the leisure business. Chairman Bigbie recognized all the staff for their efforts and the aware recipients in particular. He also recognized Mayor and Council for their efforts. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to come before the board; Ev Barnes made a motion to adjourn; seconded by Steve Stinson. Motion carried.
