BACKGROUND:
This 2,500 foot long segment of 10" waterline is included in the current 10 year Capital
Improvements Plan developed for the Water Impact Fees in place at this time.
The continued development of the industrial area north of SH 360 in the Grapevine
Euless Road and Westport Parkway corridor has created demand for extension of the
water line. Specifically, the existing line serving the corridor should be extended south
to connect with the 12" line in Hughes Road at the intersection of Hughes Road and
Euless Grapevine Road. The extension of the existing line south to SH 360 is being
constructed by the private developers as a cost of development. However, the balance
May 11, 2000 (9:OOAM)
of the line to cross beneath SH 360 and connect to the 12" line in Hughes Road is being
designed and constructed by the City in accordance with our Water Master Plan.
Until these two lines are connected to the City's system to insure adequate fire
protection for the buildings and their contents, additional development should not occur
in that area.
The design contract calls for the plans to be completed within approximately 60 calendar
days to allow the City to expedite the construction and have the fire protection available
for these prospective developments.
Staff recommends approval.
