BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The development of the Opryland Site includes the construction of a large Wastewater Lift
Station and Force Main. As part of standard development requirements, Opryland is
required to size their system to collect and transport flows from upstream properties,
developed or undeveloped. This includes extending a trunk line south from the lift station
to SH 26 to provide for existing and future flows from properties south of Trencor as well
as Opryland's property on SH 26 east of Ruth Wall Street.
With the construction of Wildwood Creek Apartments, Staff has determined that the
Wildwood Lift Station is undersized for this added flow as well as future flows from the
undeveloped properties in the watershed. In a Developer contract approved by City
Council on January 4, 2000, Wildwood Creek Apartments contributed $ 90,000 as their
share of the cost to design and construct a gravity line from the Wildwood Lift Station east
to the new Opryland Lift Station, the added capacity necessary in the new station, and the
added capacity necessary in the force main.
In that same development contract approved on January 4, 2000, the City committed
$ 43,533 for its share of the estimated cost of similar responsibilities. The City is
participating in the cost of the Wildwood Gravity Line to the Opryland Lift Station because
of existing flows to the existing Wildwood Lift Station from Cobblestone Village Apartments
and from the residential cul-de-sac on the north side of Wildwood Drive.
Marina's International is participating in the cost of the system because of their impending
plans for development of their leased Corps land along Fairway Drive. Their property will
be served by the SH 26 Trunk Line to be constructed by the Opryland Project and have
contributed to the design and construction cost based upon the percentages reflected
above.
Staff recommends approval.
