The older areas of Grapevine were targeted since these were the most likely candidates for rehabilitation. The sewer lines were smoke tested, dye water flooded, and televised to pinpoint sections that were allowing water to infiltrate the system, over loading the capacity of the lines and, consequently, the wastewater treatment plant. Based on the evaluation, a rehabilitation program was developed and divided into two phases to facilitate bidding. The first phase consisted of sewer manhole rehabilitation June 14, 2000 (1:25PM) and has been completed. The second phase addresses sections of sanitary sewer lines that were found to be defective and need to be repaired. Bids were advertised in the Fort Worth Star Telegram on May 4th and May 11th and opened on May 25th at 2:00 p.m. Six companies bid on the project with Henderson Construction being low bidder with a bid of $166,235.00. Montgomery Watson, the Cities' design engineer, conducted a background check on Henderson Construction and has found them to be worthy of consideration. Staff recommends award of bid to Henderson Construction. /ms 0:\agenda\062000\wwc.agm June 14, 2000 (1:25PM) June 8, 2000 Jean Bartley Public Works Project Coordinator City of Grapevine P.O.
