HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 25 - Street Paving FabricMEMO TO: FROM: MEETING DATE: SUBJECT: RECOMMENDATION: ITEM HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL ROGER NELSON, JULY 18, 2000 CITY MANAGERR/ RENEWAL OF CONTRACT 8109, STREET PAVING FABRIC ANNUAL CONTRACT City Council to consider renewal of a contract for the lowest and best bid meeting City specifications to Texas Steel Culvert per the attached bid tabulation to establish fixed contract pricing for street paving fabric. The original bid tabulation is attached for review. Annual expenditures will be limited to the budgeted amount shown below. FUNDING SOURCE: 174-43301-090 St. Maint./Capital Replacement/Transportation... $25,000.00 BACKGROUND: Bids were initially presented to Council on July 21, 1998, and subsequently awarded to Texas Steel Culvert as shown on the attached agenda memo. The current contract vendor has successfully provided this service to the City. The original contract was for a one-year period with an option to renew for two additional one-year periods. This is the second year of award to this vendor. Staff recommends approval. M. FUNDING SOURCE: Funds for the street paving fabric are available in the FY98 budget in account number 174- 43308 (Street Maintenance). BACKGROUND: The bids were processed in accordance with Local Government Code, Chapter 149 S1, Section 252.041 and 252.043. Bids were publicly read aloud per the attached tabulation sheets. Notice to bidders was published in the Grapevine Sun and the Fort Worth Star Telegram on June 11, 1998 and June 18, 1998. Requests for bids were sent to seven vendors, with two vendors responding by the bid opening date and time. Paving Fabric is used by the street department for the street overlay and under seal program. It is estimated that the street department will utilize approximately 100,000 sq. yds. per year.
