HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 07 - Palace Theatre Construction{TEM it `l TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS FROM: ROGER NELSON, CITY MANAGER MEETING DATE: JULY 31, 2000 SUBJECT: PALACE THEATRE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACTS, TERRACE ADDITION, AND CHANGE ORDER NUMBER 2 RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Council approve the contract for Louvered Roof Screen Work to Herb Davis Construction for the Palace Theatre totaling $43,571, approve Change Order Number 2 for an addition of $3,426 to JAZ Concrete, authorize staff to execute said contracts, the addition of the Add/Alternate Terrace to the Palace Theatre Project, and take any other necessary action. FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in Account 816-48840-101-01 Buildings, in the amount of $5,000,000. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The contract awarded to Herb Davis Construction is for the Louvered Roof Screens on the Palace Theatre. These screens are located on the top of the Terrace Addition and on parts of the new building. Change Order Number 2, requested by JAZ Concrete, authorized the removal and replacement of concrete in the lobby area of the Palace Theatre for structural purposes. The original contract was for $301,597.00. Change Order Number 1 was approved by City Council at the May 2, 2000 meeting and authorized an increase in the contract of $17,420.39. This change order included the modification of the orchestra pit, the addition of concrete for footings at the "Ski Shop" north wall, the addition of concrete to the foundation to support the rooftop A/C units above the "Ski Shop," the addition of a pier cap in the Palace lobby, the setting of piers for temporary shoring, and elevator pit modification. Change Order Number 2 will increase the contract to a total of $322,443.39.
