A copy of the bid tabulation is attached for review. FUNDING SOURCE: 325-48860-210-3 Lease Fund/Fire/Operations .....................$37,000 BACKGROUND: Bids were taken in accordance with Local Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter B, Section 252.021, 252.0215, and 252.022. This bid was advertised in the Fort Worth Star Telegram and the Grapevine Sun on January 13, 2000 and January 20, 2000. The purpose of this bid was to establish the lowest and best price for two thermal image cameras for the Fire Department as approved by Council during the budget process. The cameras must be able to operate while rotating 180 degrees, even in high heat environments. Bids were sent to six vendors with one vendor responding. Staff contacted the five vendors that did not respond and found that the vendors could not provide a camera with the specifications requested. The Fire Department indicated that it was important that this camera have a thermal management block system, which removes and dissipates heat from the camera. Other cameras were tested which did not have the management block system and did not work effectively. The camera supplied by Cairns IRIS was the only camera found with this system. Staff recommends approval of the low bid. CD February 10, 2000 (10:56AM) Gl R C, o U-1 a; E E a ui N d N E a z Q O v mil U. U l9 OII w LL I NI z NI iz I Q 'LL
