Expenditures will not exceed the annual budgeted amount of $20,000. FUNDING SOURCE: Funds for this contract are available in the following account: 100-42205-312-3 General Fund/Parks Maintenance/Grounds Maintenance .... $20,000. BACKGROUND: Request for bids for this procurement were sent to ten prospective vendors in accordance with Local Government Code, Section 252.021. Four vendors submitted bids. Notice of the bid was published in the Fort Worth Star Telegram and the Grapevine Sun on November 23, 2000 and November 30, 2000. The bid was also advertised through the City purchasing web site. Bid forms were available for download from the web site. This request for bid was taken in order to establish fixed annual pricing for the purchase of various types of trees that are ordered as needed by the Parks Division. The contract will make available thirty-one types of trees in seven different configurations with options on delivery, pick up and planting. The overall low bid was from Hampton Landscaping which bid lowest on 111 of the 217 prices submitted. In addition, Hampton tied on three additional prices. Unique Landscaping bid lowest on 60 total unit prices and was the second overall low bidder. Since Hampton submitted the overall low bid, Staff recommends awarding a contract to Hampton as primary supplier. To insure product supply, staff also recommends a secondary supplier contract be awarded to Unique Landscaping.
