PARR ROAD City Council consider awarding a Construction Contract to J. L. Bertram Construction and Engineering for the reconstruction of W. T. Parr Road and the construction of the Parr Park Parking Lot in the bid amount of $2,749,414.50, authorize staff to execute said contract, and take any necessary action. T. Parr Road. The project includes plans for the construction of concrete pavement (16,500 square feet), of stormwater lines (3530 linear feet, 18" - 36"), of water lines (4690 liner feet, 12") and wastewater lines. Additionally, a hike and bike trail will be completed (4690 linear feet), and a new parking lot at Parr Park will be built. Bids were opened on January 25, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. We received four (4) bids on this project as listed below: Contractor Bid Amount J. L. Bertram Construction and Eng. $ 2,749,414.50 JRJ Paving, Inc. $ 2,799,443.30 Rebconlnc. $ 2,881,016.81 Tiseo Paving Co. $ 2,977,317.55 J. L. Bertram submitted the low bid. DOC February 14, 2001 (9:19AM) GENERAL GOVERNMENT CAPITAL PROJECTS Parr Road Widening Project PROTECT DESCRIPTION The reconstruction and widening of Parr Road from Hall Johnson to Parr Park is to be constructed as a 2 -lane concrete roadway. Water system improvements include the construction of a 12" water line to help improve service to the southwest area of the City. This project also includes a hike and bike trail from Hall Johnson to the entrance of Parr Park. Parr Road. The project included an alternate bid item for the construction of a parking lot for Parr Park. This alternate is included in the following summary of the four bids that were received: Contractor J. L. Bertram Construction & Eng. JRJ Paving, Inc. Rebcon Inc. Tiseo Paving Co. Total Bid (Base Bid Plus Alternate A) $2,749,414.50 $2,799,443.30 $2,881,016.81 $2,977,317.55 J. L. Bertram Construction & Engineering has a solid performance record and we find their bid to be complete. Therefore, we recommend that the construction contract for the reconstruction of W.T. Parr Rd. be awarded to the low bidder, J. L. Bertram Construction & Engineering, for the Total Bid (Base Bid plus Alternate A) of $2,749,414.50.
