BACKGROUND:
Freese and Nichols, Inc. prepared plans for the proposed Creek 23/17 channel
improvements. The project includes construction of approximately 7,200 linear feet of
February 28, 2001 (3:52PM)
retaining walls (both sides); 2,040 linear feet of channel lining; two 20 foot by 8 foot
culverts at Creekwood Drive; 2,100 linear feet of storm drain; channel excavation;
compacted fill and other items contained in the Bid Proposal.
A City inspector will be dedicated to this project and a 24-hour phone contact available for
citizens to reach the contractor representative for emergencies. The contractor is
committed to finishing the project in a very timely manner and will be on-site to address
any problems that may occur during construction. City representatives have met with
residents along the Creek project in the past and will continue to diligently address their
concerns and questions throughout the construction. The engineer's estimate for this
project was $4,047,300, so the $3,474,877 bid from Omega is an excellent one for the
City.
Bids were opened on January 19, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. We received eight (8) bids on this
