CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT — SCRIBNER STREET WATER
SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS
City Council consider awarding a Construction Contract to Hebard Utilities for the
Scribner Street water system improvements in the Alternate B bid amount of
$353,904.50, authorize staff to execute said contract, and take any necessary action.

Cheatham and Associates prepared plans for the proposed water system improvements
along Scribner Street. This project extends the north -south transmission line from the
February 28, 2001 (3:49PM)
new middle school site to the existing 20" water line near the service center. The water
_w line construction will take place on Scribner Street, Peach Street, the Service Center
property and the vacant parcel of land at the intersection of Peach and Church Streets.
The project includes construction of approximately 2,300 L.F. of 20" water line; 770 L.F.
of 12" water line; 44 L.F. of 10" water line and 521 L.F. of 8" water line.
Bids were opened on February 15, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. Two alternate pipe materials,
concrete cylinder (Alternate A) and PVC (Alternate B) were specified with a substantial
completion deadline of July 1St. Five (5) bids were received for this project as listed
below:
We are recommending the lowest priced alternative (PVC Pipe) be awarded. The low
bid appears to be in order, the references have been positive, and our consultant
" recommends awarding the contract to the low bidder.
Staff recommends approval.

GENERAL GOVERNMENT CAPITAL PROJECTS
SCRIBNER STREET (from Banyon Place North to Dove Tank 20" Water Line)
A part of the Ball Street Transmission Line project #20 which is described as the Construction of a 20" water line in
Scribner and Peach Streets from Banyon Place to the Dove Tank 20" transmission line at the intersection of Dove
Extension and North Main Street for a distance of approximately 3,635 L.F. This transmission line delivers water
from the TRA delivery point to the Central and Northwest sections of Grapevine as well as the proposed 2MG
elevated water storage tank.
