Call to Order II. Invocation III. Citizen Comments Any person who is not scheduled on the agenda may address the Senior Citizen Advisory Board under Citizen Comments or on any other agenda item by completing a Citizen Appearance Request form with the staff. A member of the public may address the Senior Citizen Advisory Board regarding an item on the agenda either before or during the Board’s consideration of the item, upon being recognized by the Chairman or upon the consent of the Senior Citizen Advisory Board in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, the Senior Citizen Advisory Board is restricted in discussing or taking action during Citizen Comments. IN ACCORDANCE WITH TEXAS GOVERNMENT CODE, CHAPTER 551.001 et seq, ACTS OF THE 1993 TEXAS LEGISLATURE, THE BOARD MEETING AGENDA, WAS PREPARED AND POSTED ON THIS 5th DAY OF JANUARY 2024 AT 5:00 P.M. ______________________________________ Chris Smith, Director of Parks & Recreation CITY OF GRAPEVINE COUNTY OF TARRANT STATE OF TEXAS The City of Grapevine Parks & Recreation Senior Citizens Advisory Board met January 91 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in The REC of Grapevine, 1175 Municipal Way, Grapevine, Texas with the following members present, to -wit: MEMBERS Roger Jones Jan Ramsey Pam Price (Late) Nancy Hauske Ray Harris Jan Ramsey ABSENT Carey Miller Lynda Adams LIAISONS Teri Rhodes- Cantu Duff O'Dell Isabell Boyd Christine Szymaszek (Absent) Constituting a quorum with the following members of City staff: Chris Smith, Director Trent Kelley, Deputy Director Lara Brown, Administrative Manager Andrea Tredaway, Recreation Manager Megan Varner, Active Adults Supervisor Roger Jones called the meeting to order at 1:00pm. An invocation was led by Roger Jones. Citizen Comments: None Approval of Minutes: A motion was made to approve the October 3, 2023 minutes. Motion: Rhodes -Cantu Second: Harris Ayes: 5-0 Nays: None Absent: Miller, Adams, Price Presentations: Megan Varner provided an update on Active Adults. Updates included the Valentine's Dance on February 10, insurance renewals, Active Adult Breakfast on February 9, and Tax Aide appointments. Chris Smith presented the 2023 Parks and Recreation Recap and Highlights. Other updates included "Litter Ends With Us," tornado recovery progress, and the October 26 flooding in South Grapevine. Miscellaneous: Duff O'Dell provided a City Council update, which included a Main Street Christmas recap, Sam's Club returning to Grapevine, the Tom Thumb on Hall Johnson closing, and Main Street Fest planning. Teri Rhodes -Cantu provided a Grapevine Housing Authority update. Updates included the December 8 Christmas Party at The Elks Lodge and housing is now full with a waitlist of 835 applicants. Christine Szymaszek was absent; therefore, no GRACE update was provided. Isabelle Boyd provided an Active Adult Laison update, which included a recap of the Active Adult Christmas Party, the Volunteer Appreciation lunch, and The Senior Chior beginning again for 2024 with a Valentine's Day performance. Chris Smith and Trent Kelley provided an update on Parks & Recreation. Chris Smith's updates included Capital Projects, Christmas season tear down, a recap of the Christmas season drone shows, the Trinity River Authority progress, 2023 Parks and Recreation Employee Awards, and the upcoming April 28 Eclipse event planning. Trent Kelley's updates included the Lake Grapevine Runners and Walker's (LGRAW) Bold in the Cold race on January 15, the Martin Luther King Day of Service on January 15, the Volunteer Appreication Brunch on February 23, and The REC Aquatic Center renovations. Andrea Tredaway added that the center will be closed temporarily for repairs and is projected to reopen mid -March. Adiourn: A motion was made to adjourn the meeting at 1:51 P.M.
