MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
FROM: ROGER NELSON, CITY MANAGER
MEETING DATE: MARCH 20, 2001
SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF BID 87-2001, DOVE POOL FILTER
RENOVATION PROJECT
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval of a contract award to DCC, Inc. for the renovation of
the Dove Pool filtration system in the amount of $42,010.00. The bid tabulation for this
bid is attached for review.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funding for this purchase is currently available in account:
176-76104-003 Swimming Pool Bonds.......................................$60,000.00
BACKGROUND:
Bids were taken in accordance with Local Government Code, Section 252.021. Five
vendors received bids with four vendors responding. Notice of the bid was published in
the Fort Worth Star Telegram and the Grapevine Sun on February 15, 2001 and
February 22, 2001. In addition, the bid was advertised on the City purchasing web site.
The web site had bid forms available for download. Two vendors downloaded bids from
the web site. DCC, Inc. was the lowest bid received and met all of the specification
requirements.
Staff recommends utilizing remaining swimming pool bond funds from the 1998 election
to pay for the filter replacement. The purpose of this bid was to obtain competitive
pricing for the replacement of the filtration system at Dove Pool. The current filtration
system is very inefficient. It was installed in 1971 and is thirty years old. Due to recent
State legislation requiring an increase in filtration at public pools, the present system
must be replaced.
Staff recommends approval.
