HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 10 - 208 South DooleyMEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: ROGER NELSON, CITY MANAGER P �b V MEETING DATE: MAY 1, 2001 SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF BID 91-2001, SALE OF PROPERTY LOCATED AT 208 S, DOOLEY RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval of the sale of a single family residential home and property located at 208 S. Dooley to Natalie Hisle in the total amount of $143,400.00. FUNDING SOURCE: Not Applicable BACKGROUND: The purpose of this bid was to solicit offers for the sale of the property and land located at 208 S. Dooley St. known as the Emmett Forbes' House. Notice of the bid was published in the Fort Worth Star Telegram and the Grapevine Sun on April 5, 2001, April 8, 2001, April 12, 2001 and April 15, 2001. Bid forms were available from Development Services, Engineering and the Purchasing Division. Two open houses were conducted on April 7th and on April 8th to show and answer questions regarding the property. The historic 1927 Forbes House was moved into Grapevine from Colleyville last summer. Previously, the exterior rehabilitation was completed and the house was made available for sale, however, no interested buyers came forward. Proposed interior improvements were subsequently made which included new electrical plumbing and HVAC systems, new kitchen and bathrooms and converting the former two bedroom/one bath home into a two bedroom/two bathroom (with study) home. A driveway was also included in the work. Although over seventeen people attended the open house only one bid was received. The bid was from Natalie Hisle and was for $143,400.00 which exceeded the minimum bid set at $142,000.00. The bidder submitted all of financial and real estate documents required by the bid and otherwise qualified to purchase the property. Staff recommends approval. CD April 24, 2001 (12:58PM) RESOLUTION NO. 2000-12 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS DECLARING CERTAIN PROPERTY SURPLUS AND/OR SALVAGE, IN ACCORDANCE WITH EXHIBIT "A"; PROVIDING FOR THE AUTHORIZATION OF THE SALE OF SAID PROPERTY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, it has been determined that the City of Grapevine is in possession of property conveyed by Warranty Deed, Exhibit "A", attached hereto and made a part hereof; and WHEREAS, declaring surplus and disposing of this property, more specifically described as 208 South Dooley Street, also identified as Lot 8R, out of the Mrs. G.E. Hurst Subdivision, an addition to the City of Grapevine, Tarrant County, Texas, is in the best interest of the health and welfare of the general public. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS: Section 1. That all matters stated in the preamble are true and correct as if copied herein in their entirety. Section 2. That the property conveyed to the City by Warranty Deed, Exhibit "A", more specifically described as 208 South Dooley Street, also identified as Lot 8R, Mrs. G.E. Hurst Subdivision, an addition to the City of Grapevine, Texas, attached hereto and made a part hereof is hereby declared surplus. Section 3. That the City Manager of the City of Grapevine, Texas or his designee, is hereby authorized to conduct the sale of said property. Section 4.
