1) Tara Brook, from the city of Grapevine, did the oath of office for Jonathan Wall, Bryan
• and '• Hatley.
2) '•i commented on the executive summary report. Rounds were slightly higher
to prior year with green fee and cart fee revenue up due to rate increase. Merchandise
revenue was up slightly as we did a big clearing out sale during the month of December.
Total revenue was up 12% to prior year. We covered the greens starting on January
13th and remained covered until the 21 st. We have been lucky last winter as we only
covered • The 1 st quarter continued to be • with small to • outings. The
successes we encountered was Persimmon's added special events to drive more
business. David's junior academy continues to thrive. Some challenges we faced were
the continued struggle with Trojan batteries in the golf carts. Some carts will only last 9
holes which puts pressure on the operation. We are wanting the carts to last until
October to put the expense into FY2025. Being a busy golf course puts wear and tear
on the golf course so we are trying to put more rope on the course to maintain traffic
patterns. We promoted Pat Shaunessey to shop attendant from outside service to help
the golf professionals take one more day off during the slower months. Lance Venable
went on medical leave as of December loth, 2023 due to another tumor mass on h
spine. He is doing PT at the present time. i
3) Merlin commented on the golf course conditions. They are in winter mood which
consists of trimming trees and drainage work. They completed the drainage work on
BB #2 which will help dry out the fairway better after rains. They have been chasing
leaves throughout the course which takes time. They tried a different spray on the poa
which did ok. It did not remove the poa just set it back. It is not as clumpy as it was last
year, just thinner. They will be using a growth regulator to keep the poa and the
Bermuda the same height. They will not use the same chemicals until the poa is
resistant. They will continue to verticut the top plant of the poa to make putting surfaces
smoother. Going into the winter the greens are good and they course is in great shape.
RB asked if there would be more cart it work completed. RS commented on future
cart path work that will need to be fit into the budget in the upcoming months. We will
look to reseal some areas to be less invasive. Merlin was recognized by his peers for a
lifeline achievement award. BH asked if he has enough staff and MT commented he
has 1 open position to fill but is using a couple of part time temporary workers who mow
greens in the morning. RS asked about the depths of the bunkers. We have 1 PT
worker who has worked on several throughout the course but it is a massive process.
4) Archie feels good about the 1 sl quarter, but wished the revenue numbers were highI
than budgeted. He got to see what his team could do when the restaurant is busy...
from servers to kitchen to supervisors. The supervisors have worked on a new menu
that will be rolled out the lst of March. They are doing lots of different topic nights to
drive revenue. The current team is continuing to stay in place and not much or any
turnover in a turnover business. The kitchen crew is very helpful with different ideas.
RS & EH meet with the Persimmon's management team every Wednesday to discuss
upcoming events and different topics so all can be on the same page.
5) Eric commented on the instruction programs which continue to flourish. David is
41ing great work with the junior academy and have utilized the old clubhouse to do
some inside instruction. He is using a launch monitor more on Friday nights to promote
more instruction to the juniors. It helps them with exactly how far they hit the ball. The
*uting business continues to be positive and EH always quotes food into the overall
prices. Groups of 24 or more will continue to be quoted with food inside the overall
price. We are a very popular place for groups and it continues to be a battle to
accommodate groups and not lose our identity.
