HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 09 - Animal Control VehicleITEM I � q --MMWMWftW MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: ROGER NELSON, CITY MANAGER , , % MEETING DATE: APRIL 5, 2005 SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF A CHANGE ORDER TO CLASSIC CHEVROLET FOR THE PURCHASE OF A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE FOR ANIMAL CONTROL RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval of a change order to Classic Chevrolet for the purchase of a replacement vehicle for Animal Control in an amount not to exceed $27,509.38 FUNDING: Funds are available from insurance recovery and account 100-48910-109-1. BACKGROUND: This request is to approve a change order to Classic Chevrolet for the purchase of a replacement vehicle for Animal Control. The vehicle is to replace a vehicle damaged in an accident. The vehicle is insured and the insurance recovery will be approximately $11,500 (actual cash value). The balance of $16,009.38 will come from account 100- 48910-109-1. The purchase will be made as a change order to the purchase order issued to Classic Chevrolet as part of this year's budget for fleet vehicles. Staff presented bids and Council approved Classic Chevrolet as the awarded vendor at the March 15 meeting. The change order is in accordance with Local Government Code Chapter 252.048 (d) that allows an increase of the original contract amount by up to 25%. The original total approved by Council was $690,458.34. This purchase will increase the total amount to Classic Chevrolet by 4% and will be within the 25% allowed. Staff recommends approval of a change order to Classic Chevrolet in the total amount of $27,509.38. CD
