SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF A CONTRACT TO REFURBISH TWO PUMPS
AT THE WATER TREATMENT PLANT
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval of a contract to Pumps Unlimited, Inc. to refurbish two
pumps at the water treatment plant in an amount not to exceed $16,802.00
FUNDING:
Funds are available in account 200-43360-534-0 Utility Enterprise Fund/Water Supply
Infrastructure Maintenance/Permanent Capital Maintenance
BACKGROUND:
This work is required scheduled maintenance on Raw Water Pump #3 and the Transfer
Well Pump #7 at the Water Treatment Plant. The services required will be to remove the
motor and pump, clean and disassemble the pumps and replace bearing, impellers and
rings.
House Bill 197 raised the formal bid limit requirement from $15,000 to $25,000. Because
the total amount was under the $25,000 threshold, an advertisement was not required.
In accordance with City Purchasing Policy three bids were solicited in written quotation
format. As indicated in the bid tabulation, Pumps Unlimited, Inc. was the lowest bid
received and met all of the bid requirements.
