SUBJECT: ENGINEERING SERVICES CONTRACT AMENDMENT — BASS
PRO DRIVE
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council consider:
• Ratifying a contract amendment to the existing consultant engineering services
contract with TranSystems Corporation relative to the Bass Pro Drive project in an
amount of $14,791.00 previously approved by staff,
• Approving a second contract amendment in the amount of $1,200.00 for additional
survey work, authorize staff to execute said amendment,
and take any necessary action.

After the first review of the Bass Pro Drive plans, staff decided to modify the cross
section of the roadway from a four lane undivided section to a four lane divided section
with turn lanes. This modification would maintain a consistent pavement section through
both Grapevine and Coppell. The cost for these plan modifications was $14,791.00.
The contract amendment was approved by Public Works Staff on April 14, 2003.
The second contract amendment is required for additional survey work for the property
at the northeast corner of Bass Pro Drive and Enchanted Way. Staff has met with the
owner of the property and has agreed to modifications to the right of way and easements
requested of the owner.
The property owner has agreed to dedicate the right of way and easements to the City
and has committed to participate in the cost of the project in an amount not to exceed
$55,000.00 via a voluntary lien on the tract.
The project is comprised of approximately 1,800 LF of street reconstruction from SH 121
east to the Grapevine - Coppell City Limits. The existing asphalt two lane roadway with
roadside ditches will be replaced with a four lane divided concrete section with
underground drainage and an enlarged bridge crossing Cottonwood Branch. This
pavement section will match the new pavement section currently being planned by the
City of Coppell.
The current plan is to bid the two projects in one package to establish a single contractor
on the project and reduce the potential for conflicts. The project is currently scheduled
for bidding in the first quarter of FY 06.
Staff recommends approval.

The following is the proposed fee for Supplemental Agreement #2 for the above-mentioned project. This letter
details the services to be performed by TranSystems under this supplemental.

The following tasks have been identified for additional surveying needs:
• Office Calcs and Revise Master Drawing,
• Revise subject Parcel Map and Field Note Description (three originals),
• Provide three Right -of -Way sheets for the proposed ROW,
• Set additional final corner or offset final corner in the field.
