LAKE PARKS ROADS NAME CHANGES
In an effort to facilitate easier access for visitors and public safety personnel, staff is
recommending changing the names of the roads at the lake parks from Park Road
1,2,3,4, etc. to proper names. Staff from the Police, Fire, Development Services and
Parks & Recreation Departments have met on a couple of occasions to discuss this
issue. The Council Facilities Committee met on April 20th and recommended several
changes to the names of the park roads.
In renaming the park roads, staff tried to use the name of the park and themes. For
instance, the main road leading to Meadowmere Park has been renamed Meadowmere
Lane and the main road leading to Oak Grove Park has been renamed Oak Grove
Drive. Staff utilized fish names for some of the roads and named the park roads in the
campground after grapes anticipating that the name of the campground will be changed
to "The Vineyards Campground" when the improvements are completed at the
campground.
Finally, staff not only recommends changing the names of the roads on property the City
is leasing from the Corps of Engineers but all the parks roads on Lake Grapevine in the
city limits. These include the roads to Silver Lake Marina and the roads in Rockledge
Park. Staff has contacted Marinas International and the Corps of Engineers regarding
the road name changes. Attached is a map of the lake parks. The proposed names for
the park roads are in red on the map.
