SUBJECT: ADOPT-A-ROAD/PARK PROGRAM
RECOMMENDATION:
The Parks & Recreation Advisory Board and staff recommend the City Council consider
approval of Adopt -A -Park agreements with MB & Kathleen Morris for C. J. Hutchins Park
and with (Robert) Buck Buchanan and Georjean Sheriff for Lakeview Park. The Board
and staff also recommend the City Council approve an Adopt -A -Road agreement with
Kathleen & Mike Morris, The Telephone Connection, for Ruth Wall Street, from the back
entrance of the Gaylord Texan to Bushong Road. The applications are attached for
Council review.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Adopt -A -Road signage will be placed at the subject sites. The cost of the signs is
approximately $200 and would come from the Grounds Maintenance Account 100-
42205-312-3.
BACKGROUND:
The proposed agreements are for a period of two years and require the applicants to
pick up litter a minimum of six times per year. The Parks & Recreation Advisory Board
approved the agreements at the August 18, 2005 meeting. If approved by the City
Council, the City will have a total of 33 active Adopt-A-Road/Park programs.

The City of Grapevine will work with the adopting group to determine the specific park
or trail to be adopted. Typical tasks include litter pickup, turf maintenance, edging,
sign repair, etc.

The City of Grapevine will work with the adopting group to determine the specific
section of roadway to be adopted. Such factors as width of right-of-way, geometrics,
congestion and reduced sight distance of roadways may be considered by the City in
determining what roadways shall be eligible for adoption.
