ADOPT-A-ROAD/TRAIL PROGRAM
The Parks & Recreation Advisory Board and staff recommend the City Council consider
approval of an Adopt -A -Road agreement with Camp Sonshine for Parr Road, from Hall -
Johnson Road to Parr Park and an Adopt -A -Trail agreement with First Baptist Church
Grapevine for Big Bear Creek Trail, from Pool Road to Parr Park. The agreements are
attached for Council review.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Adopt -A -Road signage will be placed at the subject sites. The cost of the signs is
approximately $200 and would come from the Grounds Maintenance Account
100-42205-312-3.
BACKGROUND:
The proposed agreements are for a period of two years and requires the applicant to
pick up litter a minimum of six times per year. The Parks & Recreation Advisory Board
approved the agreements at the September 22, 2005 meeting. If approved by the City
Council, the City will have a total of 35 active Adopt-A-Road/Park programs.

The City of Grapevine will work with the adopting group to determine the specific
section of roadway to be adopted. Such factors as width of right-of-way, geometrics,
congestion and reduced sight distance of roadways may be considered by the City in
determining what roadways shall be eligible for adoption.
