SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION TO RENEW A BOOK
SERVICE CONTRACT FOR THE LIBRARY
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider award of an annual contract to Brodart McNaughton Book
Service to provide book services for a total annual amount of $18,971.23.

BACKGROUND:
This procurement will be made as a sole source in accordance with Local Government
Code Chapter 252, Subchapter B, Section 252.022 (A).
This contract is with Brodart McNaughton Book Service as a sole source to provide book
leasing services to the Library. Brodart has provided this service in the past as part of
the Library's book leasing program. The service provides a collection of recently
published, popular, and best-selling books to libraries for use while the books are in high
demand. Brodart is the only known vendor who can provide the wide range of
publications required. The contract will be in effect from December 2005 until November
2006. The annual contract price is $18,971.23.
Staff recommends approval of an award to Brodart McNaughton Book Service.

RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT TO
BRODART MCNAUGHTON BOOK SERVICE TO PROVIDE
BOOK SERVICES TO THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE LIBRARY;
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE SAID
CONTRACTS AND DOCUMENTS; AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine, Texas, pursuant to the authority granted by
Texas Government Code, Title 8, Subtitle A, Chapter 252, Section 252.022 (a) (7) desires
to establish a book service contract with Brodart McNaughton Book Service, and;
WHEREAS, Brodart McNaughton Book Service is the only known source that can
provide library book services of recently published, popular, and best-selling books.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Grapevine authorizes an annual
contract beginning December 2005 and ending November 2006 to be established with
Brodart McNaughton Book Service for a total annual cost not to exceed $18,971.23.
Section 2. That the City Manager or his designee, is authorized and directed to
sign and deliver all necessary documents in connection therewith for and on behalf of the
City of Grapevine.
Section 3. That this resolution shall take effect from and after the date of its
passage.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS on this the 6th day of December, 2005.
