APPROVAL OF BID 196-2004E, ANNUAL CONTRACT FOR
STREET PAVING FABRIC
City Council to consider award of an annual contract to purchase street paving fabric on
an as needed basis from Lone Star Products. Purchases will be limited to the annual
budgeted amount for this commodity. A bid tabulation is attached for review.
FUNDING SOURCE:
174-43301-090 Street Maint./Annual Maint. & Overlay/Transportation..$50,000.00
BACKGROUND:
Bids were taken in accordance with Local Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter
B, Section 252.021 (a) and Section 252.041 (a). The bid was advertised in the
Grapevine Sun on July 8, 2004 and July 15, 2004. Bids were issued to seventeen
vendors through the City's Internet web site with two vendors responding.
This purpose of this bid is to establish fixed annual pricing for street paving fabric that
will be ordered on an as needed basis by the Street Division.
Bids were received from Lone Star Products and Concrete Accessories, Inc. Lone Star
Products was the lowest bid received and met all specifications listed in the bid. Lone
Star has successfully provided this product to the City in the past. The terms and
conditions of the award would be for an initial one-year period with an option to renew
for four additional one-year periods.
Staff recommends award of an annual contract to Lone Star Products for street paving
fabric.
