BACKGROUND:
Bids were taken in accordance with Local Government Code 253.008 and 272.001.
Notice of the bid was published in the Fort Worth Star Telegram and the Grapevine Sun
on October 23, 2003 and October 30, 2003. Bid forms were available from Development
Services, Engineering and the Purchasing Division. Four bids were received as shown in
attachment "A".
The purpose of this bid was to solicit offers for the sale of vacant land located at 2841
Placid Circle. The City of Grapevine acquired the property on April 26, 1976 through a
tax sale. Council declared the property as surplus on January 5, 1993. The City's
attempt to sell the property once before yielded no acceptable bids. With current low
interest rates it was decided to make another attempt to sell the property. The property
was appraised with a minimum bid price of $30,000.
All except one bid met the bid requirements. The bid of Windsor Crest Homes did not
have any of their documents notarized. The highest bid received was from Robert Van
Til at $45,500.00. This bid met all of the bid requirements.
Staff recommends the sale of the property to Robert Van Til in the amount of
$45,500.00.
