MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
FROM: ROGER NELSON, CITY MANAGER/
MEETING DATE: APRIL 6, 2004
SUBJECT: RESOLUTION, DESIGNATE ELECTION DAY PARKING
RECOMMENDATION:
Consider approval of a resolution designating "Voter Only Parking — Tow Away Zone" at
the south entrance to the Community Activities Center on Election Day, May 15, 2004.
BACKGROUND:
Due to Legislative changes, this year the City Officer Election will be held on the third
Saturday in May. This is also Main Street Days Festival weekend in Grapevine. Next
year in 2005, the election will revert back to the first Saturday in May.

15, 2004, Election Day parking is a special condition. Staff recommends that signs be
posted on 22 parking spaces at the south end of the Community Activities Center
declaring "Official Election Parking Only—Tow Away Zone —7 a.m. to 7 p.m.—Saturday
Unauthorized Vehicles Will Be Towed at Owner's or Operator's Expense 817-410-
8127." Election Day voters will be encouraged to utilize the south entrance to the facility.
There will be parking lot monitors at the south end of the facility between the hours of 7
a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day.
Citizens are encouraged to early vote at the Community Activities Center, 1175
Municipal Way beginning on Wednesday, April 28 - Tuesday, May 11 (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
