Recreation Advisory Board regarding an item on the agenda either before or during the Board’s
consideration of the item, upon being recognized by the Chairman or upon the consent of the
Parks & Recreation Advisory Board in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, the
Parks & Recreation Advisory Board is restricted in discussing or taking action during Citizen
Comments.

PUBLIC NOTICE
GRAPEVINE PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD
THURSDAY, APRIL 18, 2024
6:15 PM
(or immediately following the regular Grapevine Parks and Recreation Advisory Board Meeting)
Following the regular meeting of the Grapevine Parks and Recreation Advisory Board
scheduled for 6:00 pm on Thursday, April 18, 2024, the Board along with City Staff will
leave from The Vine Arts & Events Center at 225 West Worth Street Grapevine, Texas
for a tour of Settler’s Park that is currently under construction.
A quorum of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board may be present. No action of the
Board will be taken at this time. Phase I of Settlers Park is projected to be completed late
2024. Additional information can be viewed on the Grapevine Parks and Recreation
website.
In accordance with the Open Meetings Law, Texas Government Code, Chapter 551,
I hereby certify that the above notice was posted on the official bulletin boards at
Grapevine City Hall, 200 South Main Street and on the City’s website on April 12, 2024
by 5:00 p.m.

The City of Grapevine Parks & Recreation Advisory Board met April 18, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at the Bessie Mitchell
House located at 411 Ball Street in Grapevine, Texas with the following members present, to -wit:

Lavon Light called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. A moment of silence was observed followed by the invocation
led by Lavon.

A motion was made to approve the March 21, 2024 meeting minutes.

A motion was made to approve the Adopt -An -Area agreements.

A discussion was led by Lavon Light and Chris Smith regarding a letter of support from the Grapevine Parks and
Recreation Advisory Board that has been requested by the Grapevine Public Works Department for the Safe
Streets and Roads for All Grant.
A motion was made to submit a letter of support from the board for the grant.

GCISD Student Liaison Update
Lavon Light provided a student update for GHS on behalf of Avery Gaudett. Updates included prom, softball and
baseball playoffs, DECA, powder puff, and student body voting.
Audrey Torres was absent; therefore, no CHHS update was provided.
GCISD Board Liaison
Kathy Spradley provided a GCISD Board update. Updates included Special Olympics, GHS and CHHS proms,
CHHS Girls Soccer played at State, the GCISD bond election, GCISD Walk of Honor, eclipse events, Walk a
Mile on May 7, and GCISD city employee school enrollment.
Citv Council
Paul Slechta as absent; therefore, no City Council update was provided.
Parks and Recreation Updates
Chris Smith provided Grapevine Parks and Recreation update. Updates included the Total Eclipse of the Park
event, Earth Day, Don't Mess With Texas Trash -Off, and The REC Membership Appreciation.
