HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 07 - Data CenterMEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER MEETING DATE: JUNE 4, 2024 SUBJECT: REPLACEMENT OF CITY NETWORK FIREWALLS - DATA CENTER MAINTENANCE AND SOFTWARE SUPPORT RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider the approval for the purchase of the replacement of end -of -life network firewalls, management software, and hardware support for the Data Center from ePlus Inc. for the IT Department. FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Capital Equipment Purchase Fund for an estimated amount of $198,385. BACKGROUND: This purchase is to replace end of life of Sophos network firewalls, management software, and hardware support at the Data Center. This purchase includes Artificial Intelligence Deep Learning (AI -powered) malware prevention and Machine Learning (ML) with Universal Anti- Ransomware (CryptoGuard) for network security. This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal agreement with the Region VIII Education Service Center known as The Interlocal Purchasing System (TIPS) in Texas as allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271 and Texas Government Code, Chapter 791. Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to ePlus Inc. The IT Department and Purchasing staff reviewed the contract for departmental specification compliance and pricing and determined that the contract would provide the best product and pricing for meeting the needs of the City. Staff recommends approval.
