HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 12 - Temporary Employment ServicesITEM it /-�' MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: ROGER NELSON, CITY MANAGE 5W MEETING DATE: AUGUST 19, 2003 SUBJECT: RENEWAL OF BID 134-2002, ANNUAL CONTRACT FOR TEMPORARY EMPLOYMENT SERVICES (CLERICAL) RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider renewal of an annual contract for the lowest and best bid meeting City specifications to Manpower Employment as primary supplier and The Roberts Group d.b.a. Snelling Personnel Services as secondary supplier for temporary employment services. Annual Contract expenditures will be on an as needed basis by the City Departments. A bid tabulation is attached for review. FUNDING SOURCE: Annual contract expenditures will be limited to the annual budget amount approved for this service. BACKGROUND: Council first approved this contract on August 20, 2002 as per the attached agenda memo. The bid specifications included an option to renew the contract for four additional one-year periods. If renewed, this would be the first renewal period. The purpose of this bid is to establish fixed annual pricing for temporary employment services (clerical positions only). This service will be utilized by all City Department's and will be contracted on an as needed basis. The lowest overall bid received was from Manpower Employment Services and was approved by Council as primary vendor. To insure the availability of this service Council also approved the Roberts Group, d.b.a. Snelling Personnel Services as secondary vendor. Both vendors have performed this service satisfactorily during the initial contract period. Staff recommends approval of renewing the contracts to Manpower Employment Services and the Roberts Group.
