HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 10 - Senior Citizens Advisory Board and Teen Court Advisory BoardMEMO TO: FROM: MEETING DATE: SUBJECT: RECOMMENDATION: ITEM 0 /d HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL ROGER NELSON, CITY MANAGERQok/ SEPTEMBER 5, 2000 APPOINTMENTS TO SENIOR CITIZENS ADVISORY BOARD AND TEEN COURT ADVISORY BOARD Consider appointment of four citizens to the Senior Citizens Advisory Board, two for one-year terms and two for two-year terms. Consider appointment of two citizens to the Metroport Teen Court Advisory Board for three year -terms. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 9 Notices of vacancies for the two boards were printed in the Grapevine Sun, the Fort Worth Star Telegram and the Da//as Morning News and posted at City Hall, Senior Activities Center and the City's web site. Resolution No. 2000-39 adopted July 31, 2000 established the Senior Citizens Advisory Board that is comprised of seven members, four of whom will be appointed by the City Council as regular members and three ex -officio members. The ex -officio members will represent the Senior Activities Center Advisory Council, Grapevine Housing Authority and GRACE Board of Directors. Council Member Johnson serves as the Council liaison. Metroport Teen Court Advisory Board was established by an Interlocal Agreement between the cities of Grapevine, Colleyville, Southlake and Trophy Club and the Grapevine/Colleyville and Carroll Independent School Districts. Each entity is allowed to have two representatives on the Board. Council Member Freed serves as the Council liaison. /lh August 28, 2000 4:40PM 18 704 kyj M;73 Now, TO: LINDA HUFF, CITY SECRETARY FROM: ROGER NELSON, CITY MANAGER�W DATE: AUGUST 31, 2000 CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS SUBJECT: PROPOSED APPOINTMENTS TO THE SENIOR CITIZENS ADVISORY BOARD AND TEEN COURT BOARD The City Council interview panel for these two boards, consisting of Council Members Darlene Freed and Clydene Johnson, met on Wednesday afternoon, August 30th, and interviewed seven of the nine applicants for the Senior Citizens Advisory Board and the only applicant for the Teen Court Board. The proposed appointees for the Senior Citizens Advisory Board are: Harlan Jewett Edith Pewitt Stephanie Whetsell The proposed appointees for the Teen Court Board are: Sarah Cloud Kim Early Kim Early did not apply for the Teen Court Board. Mrs. Early applied for the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board earlier this year and was asked to consider an appointment to the Teen Court Board. Mrs. Early informed Council Member Freed that she would be pleased to serve if appointed by the Council.
