BACKGROUND:
During the development of the Creeks 17 & 23 project, residents along the creek have
raised a number of questions in both individual and public meetings. As a result of
residents' questions, a bio -engineer was hired, and an investigation of trench safety and
construction techniques was completed. The bio -engineer provided recommendations

relative to residents' concerns, such as gabions and vegetative slope stabilization, which
are now being made part of the plans. The questions regarding trench safety and
construction techniques were answered by a specialist during the last set of public
meetings.
The contract amendments reflect the retention of the additional consulting services
described above and also include the changes to the construction plans related to the
residents' questions.
Staff plans to advertise the project for bid in November.
Staff recommends approval.
