SUBJECT: PURCHASE OF STAIR CLIMBERS FOR THE REC
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the purchase of stair climbers for The
REC from Team Marathon Fitness for the Parks and Recreation
Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the General Fund (Parks) for a total amount not to
exceed $22,412.
BACKGROUND: This is for the purchase of two Precor stair climbers for The REC of
Grapevine to replace two machines that have had continual maintenance
and repairs made. These pieces of equipment are highly used machines
on the fitness floor that are out of warranty and beyond their life cycle for
equipment being used in a commercial setting.
This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal
agreement with The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (Buy
Board) as allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271 and
Texas Government Code, Chapter 791.
Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to Team
Marathon Fitness. The Parks and Recreation and Purchasing staff
reviewed the contract for departmental specification compliance and
pricing and determined that the contract would best meet the needs of the
City.
Staff recommends approval.
