BACKGROUND: Certificate of Appropriateness application #CA16-84 was submitted by the owners Fabien and Jasmine Goury on August 24, 2016 to construct a new screen -in porch addition to the east side of the existing house and to screen in the existing open air breezeway. Plans for the new porch addition, pergola and screening -in of the breezeway were prepared by architect Gary D. Land following the Design Guidelines established for landmarked property. The streetscape photos reveal little impact from the proposed porch addition and pergola as both are located in the side yard of the house, behind the existing side yard wood privacy fence. Staff recommends approval of #CA16-84 for plans for the new screen -in porch and pergola addition, screening -in of the rear breezeway with the conditions that a building permit is obtained from the building department and all exterior materials, doors and door hardware, and light fixtures be staff approved under a separate Certificate of Appropriateness.
