SUBJECT: RENEWAL OF CONTRACT FOR EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
(EAP)
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider the renewal of a contract for Employee
Assistance Program with Optum.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the General Fund (Risk Management) in the
estimated annual amount of$40,750
BACKGROUND: The EAP is a voluntary, confidential, program which helps employees
work through various life challenges that may adversely affect job
performance, health, and personal well-being. To optimize employee
success, Optum is available 24/7/365 to assist all part-time and full-time
employees and their household members.
Optum has provided this service since 2021 and has over 200 interactions
with our employees per year. This includes connecting employees and
family members with mental health providers, financial, and legal services.
All Optum mental health providers are also in network with our medical
insurance.
