Father B.Szarkap,chairman, presided$, All members present except Vivian Tribble' excused because of allnessa i Minutes were read and approved.. dill i, ;Old business discussed eras the subject of censor ship. The Board has it 1���\ls � 11 ;been,studying this,subject'.for several weeks'. simply because they feel ;that this problem°may come up before too Long.`. They want the Library prepared to deal with it. Florence Florence read'a definition of censor - ,ship and made t'se bservations. Ad.ts have already established their moral codes and character traits add will,not be dictated to®'The Board s a whole agreed with this. She suggested that we be more selective in buying boots for young Ipeople and then perhaps the question of censor- :a ship(destroying the books removing it from the shelves etc) would not be'ne.cessarym All Borard;'metbers agreed that this would be a proper retpd in dealing with this subject The Library Board reread the Library Policy and has reevaluated it. There have been a few changes, made; such as correction of spelling, gr r, addition of phrases arid,; restructuring the paragraphs. The Librarian is to do this and retype it and give a copy to the City Manager and make copies for the Library Board. Thsre should also be one put on display in the Library. End Pe 'tt made a motion that the librarian design a form for a book request from a patron. It would have such things as: name of patron, phone number, name of book, author, publishers source of information or book review cited and the reason whir the patron felt it would be an asset to the `Library. `hese requests could prove beneficial in helping the Librarian select books. The Library Hoard requested that some method be established whereby the„overdue. books could be retdrned to the Library., This should be done, either by the warrant. officer, police; officer, or, person +-design- es .gn-aced atedby the City Manager. Ed Pe mitt made a motion that the,Librarian make .a cost last of books .than have been lost or not returned to the li}�sih Library .and insert it into the minutes so that $he could adegnatedly show the, necessity -,for the return of the: books. Hazel Cashman seconded the motion. Motion Carried, It was further suggested that the proper authorities be made aware of ,the ra sing costs o books , and how m h this cost would mean 'to the L brary'and to the t avers who support the Library. *There has been,$01®74 worth of books either lost; strayed or stolen from the iibarary` is!nee January 1, 19760 This is not a true picture because the prices have increased, some of the books c' cat be:replaced and we -are unable forcharge over $2.00 per.book on some of the books.
