HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 2001-091 ORDINANCE NO. 2001-91 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CHAPTER 20, SECTION 20-13.1 SIGNS ON RIGHTS-OF-WAY RELATIVE TO POLITICAL SIGNS OF A TEMPORARY NATURE, DECLARING AN EMERGENCY, PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; PROVIDING FOR REPEAL OF INCONSISTENT ORDINANCES AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS: Section 1. That Chapter 20 Streets, Sidewalks and Other Public Ways, Section 20-13.1 (c) (1) of the City Code is hereby amended to read as follows: "(c) Temporary signs may be placed in the public right-of-way if they fall within the following categories and comply with the stated requirements: �.,b, (1) Political signs of a temporary nature of not more than four square feet in an area may be placed in public rights-of-way in that portion of the City of Grapevine represented by a candidate for which a resident of Grapevine may vote. Said signs may be placed in said rights-of-way only during the 17 day period immediately preceding the election, or to coincide with the early voting period, for which they are posted and shall be removed within three (3) days after the election." Section 2. That the public importance of this measure creates an emergency and an imperative public necessity, and this Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage; all ordinance and/or Charter rules requiring ordinances to be considered and passed at more than one meeting or session are hereby dispensed with for the purpose of adopting this Ordinance as an emergency ordinance, and this Ordinance shall take effect and be in force and effect from and after its final passage, as provided by the Charter of the City. - � Section 3. It is hereby declared to be the intention of the City Council of the City of Grapevine, Texas, that sections, paragraphs, clauses and phrases of this �;� Ordinance are severable, and if any phrase, clause, sentence, paragraph or section of court of competent jurisdiction, such unconstitutionality shall not affect any of the remaining phrases, clauses, sentences, paragraphs or sections of this Ordinance since the same would have been enacted by the City Council of the City of Grapevine without the incorporation in this Ordinance of any such unconstitutional phrase, clause, sentence, paragraph or section. Section 4. That this Ordinance shall be effective from and after the date of its , passing.
