No official news has been received on the Tri -City Library proposal. Unofficial news
media reports were briefly discussed.
New Business
Discussed the North Texas Regional Library System and the regulatory requirement
that it build a $131,000 reserve over the next several years. The NTRLS has proposed
to the Library Services Act Board that this requirement be reduced to $74,000. The
LSA board voted to forward the proposal to the Library Archives Commission for further
consideration. On a related note, legislation has been filed in the Texas House
(HB515) dealing with this matter that would allow funding of this required reserve
through the rollover of excess state provided funds at the end of the fiscal year.
Miscellaneous Reports
The City Council approved the library's participation in the Northeast Tarrant County
consortium's pursuit of high speed telecommunications connections via a grant
proposal under the Telecommunication Bill (HB2128).
The Friends of the Library Christmas ornament was shown and is now available for
sale.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:05 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Jim Wilson, Secretary
