Staff recommends the City Council consider a one-year extension of this conditional use permit. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Conditional Use Request C000-21 was originally considered and approved at the August 15, 2000 joint public hearing. CU01-36 was originally considered and approved at the June 20, 2001 by the Site Plan Review Committee. The site is located on Lot 3, Block 6, Grapevine Mills Addition Phase 1 and is addressed at 2240 Grapevine Mills Circle West. As you are probably, aware, the- ever its of September 1 l Y 2002 and their subsequent impact 'on the hotel and travel industry have c used hotel occupancy and room rate levels to . decline dramatically throughout. the U.S., ' luding the -Dallas market area. This weakened performance has made it very difficult over -the I ast nine months to secure acceptable debt financing for our hotel project at Grapevine Mills. It 4 our understanding that many other hotel developers without firm commitments_ on' financing p or to 9/11 find themselves in a similar situation. 'Various lenders have told us that financing f Dr hotel projects should be more readily available during the second half of 2002 and into 2003 a , occupancy and room rates recover across the country. For these reasons, we are requestin a one year extension to our conditional use permit in order to provide additional time to secure inancing and/or. make:other arrangements that will allow the -project to proceed under the current ite plan within the specified time period.
